We are currently witnessing an unpreceded shift in healthcare services with individuals asserting more influence and control over their medical and wellness care. Empowered by Wearable Technologies, patients who once took a passive approach to receiving care are now in the driver’s seat. But which technologies and procedures separate devices which are disruptive from the ones which just almost make it?
In the session Consumerization of healthcare on 26 July 2022, Anders Strömberg will talk about remote health monitoring devices for chronic disease management. The talk will cover its general purpose and two principal matters: the importance of usability, and the role of public trust in IoT devices for collecting health data.
Anders will support his talk with a recent study by the mSafety team at Sony Network Communications Europe.

The digitalisation of society is advancing rapidly, not least in the health sector. Not only hospitals and the life sciences industry, but also other connected industries such as cleantech, ICT and other sectors could benefit greatly from access to health data. The benefits range from more effective healthcare to more specialised MedTech solutions to meeting the global Sustainable Development Goals. This workshop will be a collective exercise where participants together try to envision how this could look like. It is a part of a Nordic Innovation project managed by a Nordic consortium focusing on sustainable healthcare innovation in relation to SDGs, Nordic integrated health data, healthcare providers, life science industry and other related industries.
In his keynote, Anders Strömberg will speak about what measures we can take to achieve sustainable health care.

Virtually (EDT), 3-4 November 2021
At this summit, hosted by the eHealth Initiative Foundation (eHI), attendees will learn how digital health tools are being used to overcome geographical issues, language barriers, and affordability gaps, and how robust individual-level data can help healthcare organizations improve patient outcomes. Panels will explore how institutional practices and policies should change to ensure the inequities in the current health care system do not remain as it continues to modernize.
Arnol Rios will be part of a panel discussing “Why the Internet Isn’t Enough to Close the Digital Divide: Building Solutions for All Patient Populations”.

Virtually (CET), 13 October 2021
While the convergence of new IoT, telecommunications and AI technologies is enabling access to fantastically rich data sets and allowing health and safety service providers to develop valuable new solutions, there are serious trust issues when it comes to IoT. The risks may not be new, but the stakes – and consequently the concerns – are higher than ever due to the sheer number of IoT devices being deployed and the ways in which they are being used.
In this talk, Anders Strömberg, Director, Head of Wearable Platform Division, Sony Network Communications Europe, will discuss the issues of trust in IoT devices for remote monitoring, the challenges and some possible solutions.

The industry faces the challenge of not only securing IoT services end-to-end, but also generating trust in that security. How to change the public perception of the connected device, and prove not only their worth, but their trustworthiness? What more can be done to convince the public of the security protocols and technology embedded in these devices? How can we, as an industry, keep large data breaches and privacy attacks from happening and further eroding customer trust?

The inclusion of space-based communications including hybrid fleets in the connectivity mix, would seem to be the only feasible way to network billions of devices scattered across the globe and capture all the data (big data) produced. They would therefore not just support, but be integral to, the development of the IoT sector. This programme will cover various enabling solutions to achieve ubiquitous, pole to pole connectivity. More information here.
